What is WaveCel® technology?
WaveCel® technology in snowboard (& ski) helmets is designed to go beyond traditional EPS foam protection by addressing both direct impact forces and rotational forces—the two main causes of brain injury in snow sports crashes.
At its core, WaveCel® is a collapsible cellular structure that lines the inside of the helmet. When an impact occurs, the network of cells responds in three key ways:

Flex – The cells bend to absorb the initial impact.

Crumple – Like a car’s crumple zone, the cells compress to absorb crash energy and reduce the force reaching your head.

Glide – The layers of cells shear and shift, helping to redirect and reduce the rotational forces that can cause concussions.
Because the WaveCel® liner distributes impact forces more efficiently, the helmet can remain lightweight while still offering enhanced protection. Combined with features like BOA® fit systems, venting, and warm ear pads, WaveCel-equipped ski helmets give riders a balance of comfort, warmth, and advanced safety tech—particularly valuable in high-speed, variable mountain environments where both blunt impacts and rotational falls are common.
