Into it's 2nd year, the Never Summer Proto Type 3 is still a standout evolution of Never Summer’s freestyled board series, delivering exceptional all-mountain versatility with pro-level performance. Developed alongside U.S. Snowboard Team rider Chase Blackwell, it's engineered to "go anywhere, kill everything". A completely balanced true twin that delivers an energetic, exciting, yet precise and predictable feel.

At its core is the innovative Triple Camber Recurve profile, which transforms the classic triple camber into a more aggressive overall camber shape. This structure offers explosive pop, locked-in edge grip and smooth turn transitions while maintaining agility and float. Paired with R.I.P. Edge-Hold technology, the board achieves outstanding grip and control without feeling overly "grabby".

Built as a true twin, the Proto Type 3 includes early-rise float mechanics and a "blower stance" option to enhance powder performance. Its mid-stiff flex balances responsiveness for carving and stability with playful forgiveness for freestyle and buttering.

High-end construction features include a SuperLight wood core, Precision Stitched Carbon Matrix and T3 Twin Carbon Mapping for torsional snap and RDS² vibration damping for a smooth ride at speed. STS pre-tensioned and Bi-Lite fiberglass layups add durability without unnecessary weight.

Rounding out the package, the board boasts a Durasurf XT 5501 sintered base for fast glide, Vario Power Grip sidecut for varied radius carve control and R.I.P. reinforced edges for added durability.

Tech:

  • Triple Camber Recurve Profile: Recurve brings you the ultimate, energetic all mountain feel of traditional camber while giving you an easier ride and more powerful edge hold, made possible by Triple Camber's R.I.P. Edge Hold Technology. This profile dominates all over the mountain and on all different variations of snow.
  • True Twin Shape, 0mm Setback: Boards built with fully symmetrical specs; sidecuts, flex patterns and nose and tail lengths. True Twin boards are great for freestyle riding and progression.
  • Flex - Mid-Stiff (6/10): Responsive and powerful with a freestyle mindset.
  • NS SuperLight Wood Core: It utilises a custom, sustainably grown blend of Poplar and Paulownia with Birch that is strategically placed underneath the mounting inserts for a secure, solid connection.  The core is then CNC-sanded to a fraction of a millimetre for precise flex and performance.
  • T3 Twin Carbon Mapping: This mapping places carbon inlays in the tip and tail, along with two strips of carbon running through the board to maximise energy transfer and pop, providing a balanced flex for a versatile freestyle feel.
  • Early Rise Float Mechanics: This front end rise and float design gives a board incredible lift in powder, slush and heavier snow conditions. This also provides very smooth turn initiation compared to a traditional steeper kick transition that tends to plow or push snow when engaging a turn.
  • Vario Power Grip Sidecut: Utilises multiple radiuses creating extra contact points to enhance edge hold.
  • R.I.P. Edge Hold Tech: Amplifies edge performance, guaranteeing maximum stability and control in any condition while allowing for easy edge tunes. Instead of the traditional 'grabby' wavy edges that drag through the snow, this technology integrates waves into the board’s profile on the base plane, creating multiple high pressure points while allowing for smooth glide without drag.
  • STS Pre-tensioned Fibreglass: An advanced pre-hardened, pre-tensioned, layered laminate that has added elastomer stringers. This produces a stronger bond between the individual glass laminates giving NS snowboards unmatched strength, edge hold and performance.
  • Bi-Lite Fibreglass: Combines many of the strength characteristics of the STS fibreglass with an ultra light glass fibre matrix. This delivers incredible freestyle and freeride performance without sacrificing durability.
  • Durasurf XT Sintered 5501 Base: An exclusive, super fast, durable sintered base specifically for NS boards. Just the right amount of graphite has been added making the it one of the fastest and certainly the most durable P-Tex bases on the market.
  • RDS² Dampening: The perfect balance of freeride stability and freestyle liveliness. A more substantial system than a freestyle board to stabilse at higher speeds but a little less dampening than in a freeride board for leaving the snow. An ideal combination of vibration absorption and energetic feel.
  • Blower Stance Inserts: Two extra inserts set 31.75mm back from the last insert, helps you turn this into a powder board for those deep days!
