Anon Rodan Mips Helmet
Combining lightweight comfort with customisable fit, making it an ideal choice for snowboarders and skiers alike. Weighing just 430g, it's so light you'll barely notice it on your head, while the 360° BOA® Fit System lets you easily adjust the fit with a quick twist of the dial. Certified to CE 1077B and ASTM 2040 standards, it features a durable in-molded polycarbonate shell, passive ventilation for consistent airflow, a cozy expedition fleece liner, and a magnetic Fidlock® buckle for quick, glove-friendly fastening.
One of the key features of this Anon Rodan is that is features 'Multidirectional Impact Protection System' or Mips®. Mips® is a helmet safety technology designed to reduce the rotational forces that can be transmitted to the brain during certain impacts.
Traditional helmets are very good at protecting against direct (linear) impacts—for example, when you hit your head straight on. However, many real-world accidents involve angled impacts and these are particularly common when you take a tumble snowboarding. These types of impact can cause the head to rotate suddenly, creating rotational motion inside the brain that may contribute to certain brain injuries.
MIPS was developed to help reduce some of those rotational forces. Inside a MIPS-equipped helmet, there is a low-friction layer (often a thin yellow liner) that allows the helmet shell to move slightly—typically around 10–15 mm—relative to your head during an angled impact. Think of it like an extra sliding layer: Impact occurs at an angle. The helmet shell begins to rotate. The MIPS layer allows a small amount of movement between the helmet and your head. Some rotational energy is redirected or reduced before reaching the brain. It doesn't guarantee prevention of concussion, but it is widely regarded as a meaningful safety enhancement to snowboarding / ski helmets.
