Bataleon ThunderStorm Snowboard 2027

The 2027 Bataleon ThunderStorm is a freeride snowboard that is perfect for riders that like to charge hard around the whole resort, either taking it full speed down the groomers or slashing up the pow. With a longer nose and shorter tail, combined with a 10mm setback stance, the ThunderStorm sits perfectly in the powder, allowing the tail to sink while the nose rises for easy float and control.

Flex-wise, the Thunderstorm hits that sweet spot at a medium 6/10. It’s stable enough to handle speed without feeling loose or unpredictable, yet still forgiving enough to avoid feeling overly stiff or demanding. A triax fibreglass laminate keeps things light, strong, and highly responsive, while the ultra-light core—blending poplar and paulownia—delivers impressive strength without unnecessary weight. The result is a board that feels agile underfoot but remains steady when pushed harder.

Carbon stringers inject explosive pop and lightning-fast edge response while helping to dampen chatter at higher speeds. The upgraded D.S.T core, featuring carbon Super-Tubes™ along the rails, boosts pop even more while reinforcing the camber and reducing weight.

Step-down rails improve power transfer directly to the edges, giving you precise control in every carve. Finishing it off is a sintered ultra glide base that holds wax exceptionally well and is built for speed and durability.

With uplifted sections in the nose and tail and a flatter centre base, it naturally reduces the risk of catching an edge while keeping transitions smooth and predictable. Turn initiation feels effortless, yet the board still delivers a lively, responsive ride that doesn’t feel dull or washed out. Paired with its low camber profile, the ride remains forgiving at slower speeds and incredibly smooth when gliding through fresh snow.

• Directional Outline Shape: With a longer nose and shorter tail, the Thunderstorm is great for directional freeriding. With a setback stance of 10mm, the tail sinks nicely in the fresh snow as the nose lifts for added float.
• Flex - Medium (6/10): Not too soft that it is flappy at speed and not too stiff that it's twitchy and scary. 
• Low Camber: The lower camber profile of the Thunderstorm produces a smoother ride at low speed and in the fresh powder.
• Triax Laminate Glass: Three-way fibreglass weave which is  light, strong and very responsive. 
• Ultra Light Core: A 1:2 blend of Poplar and Paulownia wood that creates an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio.
• Sintered Ultra Glide Base:  Premium 7000-grade sintered base with great wax absorption, that is equal parts tough as nails and fast as hell.
• Carbon Stringer Enhanced: Lightweight stringers that deliver explosive pop, quick edge response, and amazing dampening at high speeds. 
• D.S.T Core Upgrade: Hollow carbon cylinders, AKA Super-Tubes™ are placed vertically alongside both rails of the snowboard - significantly increasing pop, reinforcing the camber, and reducing board weight.
  
• Step Down Rails: A thinner sidewall alongside the edge of the snowboard reduces  weight and allows for a more direct transfer of power between the wood core and your edges.

What size Bataleon Thunderstorm should you buy?

The size of snowboard that you should buy is based upon lots of different factors. Two of the most important determining factors are rider weight and snowboard boot size. You can use the chart below to help you decide what size snowboard to buy. 

We recommend that you select a 'wide' snowboard if your boots are UK10.5 or larger.

• 156cm = 65-85 kg / 144-188 lbs
  
• 158cm = 69-89 kg / 153-197 lbs
• 156cm Wide = 72-95 kg / 166-210 lbs
• 159cm Wide = 78-98 kg / 172-217 lbs
• 162cm Wide = 84-104 kg / 186-230+ lbs

• 156cm = 25.6cm
  
• 158cm = 25.8cm
• 156cm Wide = 26.6cm
• 159cm Wide = 26.9cm
• 162cm Wide = 27.2cm
