Nidecker Tech Guide

Nidecker have been in the snowboard game since 1984. Historically not the best known name in the UK for snowboarding, their brand profile soared into the stratosphere with the launch of the Supermatic® binding in 2022/23.

They produce a wide range of boards, boots and bindings but it's the Supermatic that is still killing it. Originally trickled into the market with one model and a couple of colours, now for 2026 there are 3 models to choose from and an array of colours.

Top of the line is a carry-over model from 2025 and is the stiffest Supermatic on the market, the Carbon Supermatic®. Next we have a brand new model, the LT (or Light.Speed) Supermatic® which has a fresh new look with a stiff highback and a low volume ankle strap. This one is going to be super desirable this season due to the updated and improved look and the fact that you have a choice of 6 colours! As a final option you essentially have the original Supermatic (or OG Supermatic®) which is the same model that has been out for the last few years but with upgraded buckles.

The Nidecker Supermatic® is a game changer

Since launching a few seasons ago, 'Supermatic' has been a buzzword in the snowboarding industry. The majority of snowboarders use conventional two-strap bindings when they ride. We now obviously have Burton 'Step- On' and there are a dedicated bunch of snowboarders who still use the 'rear entry' Flow bindings, but seeing as the Supermatic is essentially an automatic Flow bindings, lots of Flow customers have moved across to Supermatic. But it's not just them, lots of two-strap customers have converted to Supermatic too! If you set up Supermatic bindings correctly, they are great to use - super convenient and they save a lot of energy on the hill when it comes to strapping in and out. I think the only downside really is the weight, they are a little heavier, but to be honest, when you are riding with them you don't notice it (it's only when carrying to the lift etc). We have a pair set up in the shop, so if you are local, why not bring in your boots and you can give them a go to see just how easy they are to use.

...it's not just all about the Supermatic though

Nidecker Snowboards

As you'd imagine, Nidecker manuafacture a wide range of boards with lots of different shapes and constructions. Our best sellers are the freestyle orientated, true-twin Sensor and the all-mountain, directional Escape.

Snowboard Construction

  • N-Tech

Nidecker's most advanced manufacturing process combines elements of cap and sandwich construction while shaving weight in the middle of the board. The result is a powerful flex from tip to tail that still allows precise torsional control.

  • PoWER RAILS

An exclusive Nidecker construction inspired by surfboards. The topsheet is wrapped over a rounded wood core to meet a thin sidewall. It’s a beautiful finish that’s even more stunning to ride, delivering instant drive through the edge.

  • PREMIUM SANDWICH

A step up from their standard sandwich construction that adds carbon stringers for more pop, quicker edge response and improved shock absorption.

  • CLASSIC SANDWICH

A wood core is sandwiched between the base and top materials and protected by durable ABS or TPU sidewalls. Proven, high quality design.

Snowboard Cores

  • MEGA CORE

The most advanced core in the line is made from a premium blend of poplar and paulownia. Vertical layers of glass fiber reinforce each stringer to reinforce the flex and add explosive, lifelong snap.

  • LIGHT CORE

An ultra lightweight core based on a lively combination of poplar and paulownia. Hardwood beech stringers down the centre enhance the overall strength and boost pop.

  • MASTER CORE

Master Core is the culmination of decades of experimentation in materials and woodcraft. Two species of wood (poplar and paulownia) are combined to give the best of all worlds: light, strong and responsive.

  • FULL WOOD CORE

Tried and trusted poplar core. If you like a classic ride with plenty of pop and lots of life, this is the core for you.

Snowboard Bases

  • N-12000

Nidecker's fastest ever base is made from race-grade, high density sintered material with added graphite for unmatched glide. Only available in black.

  • N-9000

A lightning quick sintered base made from super dense material with a high carbon content to minimise friction. Wax it regularly for race-level performance.

  • N-7000

A Nidecker exclusive, N-7000 Sintruded base has all the durability and low-maintenance glide of an extruded base but is as hard as a sintered base.

  • N-5000

Extruded N-5000 base which is exceptionally durable and stays fast even without regular waxing.

Snowboard Fiberglass

  • Triax Plus

Fiberglass is woven in three directions at 45° for maximum stiffness. Triax Plus uses different glass densities above and below the core to deliver more consistent torsional flex, better pop, and lightning response.

  • Biax plus

Biax Plus features a classic 90° weave but uses more glass to enhance power transfer. It’s super responsive and ideal for riders seeking a stiffer and more agile snowboard that’s still playful.

  • Biax Standard

Fiberglass is woven in two directions at 90° to offer a forgiving flex with plenty of torsional feel. It’s a versatile and lightweight construction that’s been tried and tested through the decades.

Snowboard Shape

  • Directional

With over 50 years of proven performance, directional shapes have a significantly longer nose than tail. They excel at floating through powder and offer better glide, carving and stability in variable snow.

  • Directional Twin

Directional twins offer the best of both: enough tail to ride switch comfortably, but a slightly longer nose for more float and stability. A great choice for freestyle-leaning riders who want to shred the whole mountain.

  • True Twin

True twins feature a mirror-image nose and tail and a centered stance for the ultimate in switch-riding ability. Identical performance in either direction makes them right at home in the park – and anywhere else you want to get creative.

  • Asym Twin

Asymmetrical twins feature a tighter sidecut on the heel edge for more balanced turning performance. A mirror-image nose and tail, together with a centered stance, makes them easy to ride switch and freestyle-friendly.
