SNOWBOARD PANTS

The right snowboard pants keep you dry, warm, and moving freely from first lift to last run. Here's what to look for:

• Bib vs. cargo: Bibs offer full core coverage and seal out powder at the waist — ideal for deep days and backcountry riding. Cargo pants give you a relaxed, streetwear-inspired fit with extra pocket storage for park and resort use.
• Insulation: Insulated pants add built-in warmth for cold-weather riding. Shell pants layer over thermals for a versatile, breathable setup that works across conditions.
• Waterproof ratings: Look for 10,000mm+ for casual resort days, 15,000–20,000mm for frequent riders, and 20,000mm+ for heavy snowfall or extended backcountry missions.
• Fit: A relaxed or regular fit suits most riders and layers easily over base layers. Slim and tapered fits work well for freestyle riders who want less fabric catching air.
